I have a vivid memory of my dad tying up skate laces for me and my sister and holding our hands as we wobbled across the rubber mats, eager to feel the cold on our faces and take our first strides on frozen Victoria Lake. From my childhood memories of gondolas and paddle boats, a giant ice rink, and hot chocolate to my young adult memories of beer and live music, The Boathouse, to me, is Kitchener. It represents so many memories for so many people, and has always been a centre for community.
I am ecstatic to announce my involvement in the opening of The Boathouse and my role as bar manager! The planning has begun: the discussions, the ideas, the details, the designing, the deciding, it’s happening and it’s surreal. I, for one, am honoured to be a part of the awesome management team who are seriously going to rock your socks!
After spending the last 10 years hostessing, serving, and bartending at restaurants all over the city, I’ve finally found the next step and the right people – thank you Bill, Mark, and everyone at Imbibe! I love this industry; the people, new and old; concocting new drinks; shaking cocktails; pouring beer; the conversations (no matter how bizarre); and knowing that no two days will ever be the same!
To think that in a matter of a few weeks (or so!) we’ll be opening the front doors of this cultural landmark to the public who have been patiently, very patiently, waiting for this moment to come! So stay tuned, our barstools are where you’re going to want to be to see what it is that I’ve been shaking up!
