The time is finally approaching: like the bass line building up to the chorus of a song, The Boathouse is less than weeks away from opening the doors to its first show. Kitchener-Waterloo has been anxiously anticipating this for over a year and there is so much we have to live up to, both in honouring The Boathouse’s rich history, and in creating a new frontier for the venue and all of our esteemed patrons.
For the committed people involved in the grand re-opening of The Boathouse – the process has become like creating an album. I have watched confidence build in our “band” as we move closer to the launch date, ready and eager to sing our opening song. Creative input is coming in from all directions on what The Boathouse should be like based on past experiences. Those who have not previously experienced the magic of the venue talk about the piece that’s been missing – that piece of the downtown core in Kitchener, which helps bring together and builds the love of live music, the excitement of catching a show, and leaving wide-eyed, maybe even speechless after the experience.
We are feverishly taking on this immense task with wonderment and passion as we work to add our own imprint on this exciting era of development within Kitchener’s arts and culture scene. It will require us to sync together to make The Boathouse guest experience as a whole as memorable as possible. Whether it’s the music, the carefully crafted modern Canadian cuisine, the thoroughly sought after craft beers, or the personalized service – it is our passion-driven intent that this be an immersive and unique social experience.
We hope you enjoy our opening show… See you at The Boathouse!
